When first trying to think of a catchy name for my business, I tried many different ways of looking at the industry I chose to find a title. I looked at lots of fancy words to catch the eye of potential customers. Until finally my wife put the idea forward of “why don't you just use your name. You're proud of it.”

It made me look at my career right back to the day I started my apprenticeship for bricklaying. I was placed with a grumpy old bricklayer for a year then fortunately placed with a carpenter for a year, then a plasterer for nine months and finally a roofer for the remainder of my time.

In the four years of this wonderful apprenticeship I was also sent to a local college on day release for the technical side of things and achieved four years of passes with credit in City and Guilds and Northern County degrees.

I am proud of the 29 years since completing the training and I can say that I have enjoyed every minute of it.

So, why not use my name in the title.
